Statement – Nick Dametto MP

13th January 2022

Nick Dametto MP.

The banking and financial services company ANZ has informed NQIB that they will be removing the automated teller machine (ATM) that is currently located at NQIB in Lannercost Street, Ingham.

This ATM will not be replaced as allegedly the usage of the ATM did not warrant it continuing to operate.

I am of the understanding that NQIB had offered ANZ free rent for the space as a community service and unfortunately this offer was not accepted.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank NQIB for advocating on the matter and taking the time to negotiate with ANZ to try to come to an agreement.

This decision was made solely by ANZ, and I would like to remind the community to not take this matter out on the employees at NQIB.

What we are seeing is another multinational banking and financial service company failing to support regional Queensland towns, which forces the community to go online or to the post office for their banking needs.

To those ANZ customers unhappy with the current service from ANZ it would be understandable if you were considering changing to a bank that is currently supporting our community and providing Hinchinbrook with good old-fashioned customer service.
