Statement from Nick Dametto MP: Merry Christmas Hinchinbrook

Hinchinbrook MP Nick Dametto with Alice River residents.

20 December 2023

Christmas is a time for us all to come together to celebrate the things we are truly thankful for. It’s a time for family and friends to gather and share in the generosity and kindness that defines this special time of year.

Christmas means something different for everyone. For those who share the Christian faith, let us remember the true meaning of Christmas and celebrate the birth of Jesus, as we exchange gifts and share a meal with loved ones. Those of diverse belief sets, may you also enjoy this time of year by celebrating in their own way.

May we all find ways to extend our hearts to those who may be less fortunate and do what we can to give and comfort those in need during the holiday season. A simple act of kindness can make a world of difference in someone’s life at a time of year.

May we all keep in our thoughts and prayers those who have and continue to be impacted by the recent Far North and North Queensland flooding event, this will not be an easy Christmas for them and their families.

As many prepare to set out on their holiday journey, I implore everyone to be safe and patient out there on our roads, this holiday season we are expecting record numbers of road users. Please drive to the conditions and be mindful of fatigue.

Not everyone gets to down tools over the next few weeks, thank you to our doctors, nurses, hospitality, police and emergency services staff and every other essential worker during this time, thank you for all you do and will do to keep Queensland running and the lights on over the Christmas/New Year’s break.

Although the Hinchinbrook Electorate Office will be closed from Friday, 22 December 2023 to Sunday, 7 January 2024 (inclusive) in an emergency please contact us via email Hinchinbrook@parliament.qld.gov.au.

From myself, the Hinchinbrook Electorate Office staff and my family, I would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
