Hop into Hinchinbrook this Easter
12th April 2022
Katter’s Australian Party (KAP) Deputy Leader and Hinchinbrook MP Nick Dametto is encouraging North Queenslanders to take advantage of the eased COVID-19 restrictions and explore Hinchinbrook during the Easter school holidays and upcoming long weekends.
Hinchinbrook is home to Australia’s largest single drop waterfall, an abundance of National Parks, tranquil waterfalls, iconic fishing spots, and world-class hiking experiences.
Mr Dametto said the upcoming long weekends were the perfect time to discover Hinchinbrook and take advantage of the region’s beautiful climate.
“Whether you’re into hiking, fishing, swimming, exploring, or kicking back and relaxing there’s something in Hinchinbrook for the whole family to enjoy,” said Mr Dametto.
“It’s no secret that our hospitality, accommodation, and tourism operators have taken a dramatic hit and loss due to the impacts of the pandemic and associated travel restrictions.
“With a number of public holidays just around the corner, it is the perfect time to visit the region and support our local businesses.
“Recently, my wife and I hiked the Thorsborne Trail over four days and it was one adventure that put us both to the test.
“As we travelled through the incredible diversity of terrain from rugged tropical peaks, stunning coastal beaches, melaleuca swamps and rainforests, I couldn’t help but feel we were in Jurassic Park or the next series of the Man vs Wild.
“The Thorsborne Trail is one of the world’s best multi-day walking experiences and it lived up to its reputation.
“Those who are interested in hiking and exploring, you need to add this one to your bucket list.”
