HINCHINBROOK MP Nick Dametto has welcomed more than $1.4 million in State funding to give local schools a much-needed spruce up.

The funding is part of a wider State Government program to refurbish education facilities and included $60,000 to demolish a prefabricated building at Bohlevale State School earlier this year, $250,000 to modernise two learning spaces at Ingham State School, an $80,000 renewal of Lower Tully State School’s activities hall and the $200,000 refurbishment of two learning spaces at Rolingstone State School.

“I know this funding goes a long way to improving schools in Hinchinbrook and I was proud to have lobbied for school upgrades in my electorate,” Mr Dametto said.

$560,000 has also been allocated for maintenance works across schools in Hinchinbrook, on top of $284,000 for minor works.

“Recently I had the pleasure of meeting with several local principals and it was great to hear about their respective schools’ achievements, funding windfalls and their future requirements,” Mr Dametto said.

“I look forward to working with all of our schools and lobbying the government to ensure staff and students have the equipment, facilities and resources they need to excel.”
